About Gregory J A Murad
My name is Gregory Murad, MD, and I am a neurosurgeon who specializes in general and complex spinal surgery, traumatic brain injury and brain tumors.
I received my bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University and my medical degree from the University of Vermont. I joined the UF Department of Neurosurgery in 2001 for my neurosurgical residency, and I spent a year as a clinical fellow at the NIH/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke studying investigational treatments for brain tumors.
In addition to taking care of patients, I conduct research into outcomes of patients with traumatic brain injuries. I also research residency educational outcomes, and I am the residency program director for the UF Department of Neurosurgery.
I serve as the Florida representative to and the chair of the Southeast Quadrant for the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. I am a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the AANS/CNS Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care and the Florida Neurosurgical Society, for which I have served as president. I was recently elected to the Society of Neurological Surgeons, the oldest organized neurosurgical society.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, running, reading and spending time with my family.
